Kai Staudacher
Stencil painting
Kai Staudacher, ex-postman, hyperactive sports fanatic & head of his own communication design agency in Frankfurt – addicted to spray paint & tape. “When I was 6, my parents made me watch the Olympics on TV until the early morning – since then I’ve been crazy about the weird contortions from sports books and football magazines where people are frozen in the strangest positions. I get them out of there and breathe life back into them…with a bit of aerosol and a scalpel.
Chance is absolutely welcome in my work, but I decide how long it can stay and what it leaves behind! Numbers are very important because in sport everything is counted – time, distance, length, height, goals…. even the players!
Born in Worms in 1973, Staudacher studied communication design at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden before founding his design studio in Frankfurt. Since 2009 he has been a lecturer at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences for Corporate Design, Wiesbaden and works as a freelance artist in Dreieich, Frankfurt.
