Christian Hinz aka KERA is internationally recognised as one of Germany’s leading abstract muralists – his oversized murals adorn the facades of buildings all over the world – including Qatar, the UK, Mexico, the USA, Georgia, Spain, the Netherlands and throughout Germany.

“Windows have a long tradition in art as a pictorial object and as a symbol. Due to its two-dimensionality, its framing, its grid-like structure and its transparency, the window lends itself to very different interpretations and interpretations. Windows are interfaces, transitions and separations from inside to outside, windows to the soul, to reality or to illusion – they show limited sections of a different, original world.”
The works of Christian KERA Hinz grant us a glimpse into such a world – they show us his view of our cosmos as a snapshot and yet allow us individual discoveries as viewers of his. What we consciously see and at the same time unconsciously perceive plays with our thoughts and feelings.
The basis of KERA ́s pictorial worlds is a clear grid, similar to a church window in which each field stands alone and has a clear language, but only unfolds its full dynamism, power and meaning in the overall picture. Although Christian Hinz ́s works are fundamentally geometrically abstract, they nevertheless develop a strong spatial depth – clearly organised surfaces as well as lively structures and their balanced harmony have always played a major role for KERA..

Born in Berlin in 1985, Christian Hinz has been working as a freelance artist since 2012 and has been a lecturer in printing techniques at the Steglitz Art School since 2019. Hinz has long been a permanent fixture at the renowned ARTES art centre.
