Landscape painting
Anja Nürnberg’s paintings are a discovery in landscape painting – the often large-format, colourful works are of a deep, cheerful lightness whose subjects grow out of the artist’s memories.
The captured sceneries are not sharply sketched, but are hinted at and abstracted. In her paintings, landscape lines blur with urban scenes, areas of colour, hints of vaguely recognisable everyday objects and landscape elements appear in accentuated disorder.
“The linear and planar constructions of an obviously inconsistent perspective offer interior and exterior spaces that allow different levels of experience and imagination in the perception of a moment,” says Nürnberg.
Born in Magdeburg in 1982 and raised in Berlin, the passionate painter has been living and working in Halle an der Saale since her studies at the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy.
2022 Anja Nürnberg was awarded by the Art Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt for an outstanding artistic position
